Dual Booting MBP

Last Saturday night Judy helped me install Windows XP on my Boot Camp’d MacBook Pro. I know; I still feel dirty. All sacrilege aside, everything turned out okay with only minor confusion on my part (noob) about the WinXP install process.

Admittedly, I’ve only set up the dual boot to play games.

Already installed are Warcraft III/TFT (because Rosetta’d WC3 blows and I need my DotA fix) and Fallout (because Judy wanted me to try it, then she wanted me off her computer so she could play). Since I’m not all that big into games, I’ll probably just stick to the mainstream titles for the time being. Most notably Half Life 2 since Judy wants to play it too.

For those of you curious about how it runs, I have one word for you: Godly. All the good reviews about Intel’s Core Duo have not been overstated. Running Mac OS X 2-4x (yes, actually and perceptibly) faster than my iMac G5 wasn’t all that surprising. But cruising around WinXP 2-3x faster than my 3.6GHz P4 at work is just… nice. And even if it’s not that much of a stress test, playing TFT DotA is a joy. All graphics settings on max, full screen AA, 4x Ansio, etc, 60fps (vsync) with bandwidth to spare. Sweet. This Radeon X1600m ain’t too shabby.

If anyone has any recommendations for some must-have main stream games (No FPS they make me vomit, no MMO’s, don’t recommend stuff that’s available on the Mac), drop me a line.
