Assailant on your a$$: works as advertised.

Tuesday, May 30th, 2006

This past Sunday my sister, my brother, and I opened up the bottle of 80 proof “Assailant” plum spirits I got for her in Taiwan. The bottle has a cartoon caricature of an old man apparently going “assailant” in a drunken rampage. Well, it seems it works pretty well, because by 10pm we were all beating the crap out of each other in a NISHIKAWA wrestling free for all. I don’t remember anything after the first time I passed out, but we got lots of pictures (and video!) of crazy Nishikawas going assailant. Good times. I’ll post pictures as soon as I can.

Semester Over!

Thursday, May 25th, 2006

Had my last final yesterday. (Engineering Stats) Over all I think I did pretty well this semester. Hope fully my GPA will stand above a 3.8. Anyhow, up for this weekend is Fanime 2006. And, as usual we’ll be showing ReDeath [9pm Friday, 2pm Monday]; Nescaflowné will be showing [11am Sunday]. This year we’ll be making fools of ourselves on “Stage Zero” in the common breezeway.

FBBB DVD Report 6

Wednesday, May 24th, 2006

I’m done editing the FBBB director’s cut, which clocks in at 40:55 (or 2:40 shorter than the original cut). Most of the cuts are from the last ten minutes and makes the ending more bearable (for me) by speeding it up significantly (I even sped up the end credit roll by about 30 seconds!). Without rebuilding the video from scratch, I’m satisfied this is as polished as I can make it, but as mentioned before, the original cut will be on the DVD also for those who miss the excess. All that’s left is to finish mixing the soundtrack, mostly adding ambient noise where there should be some present. Then the DVD stuff, subtitles, a few extras and then on to the final cut of Nesca.

What’s that all aboot?

In order to get our videos screened at Otafest this weekend, they had to be submitted to Alberta Film Classification Services, their equivalent of the MPAA. So here, no joke, are what our dubs are rated in the Canadian province of Alberta.

Site down/broken time

Thursday, May 18th, 2006

If you saw some weird things going on with the site it’s because I was upgrading the blog software. Spammers’ zombie botnets were trying to post comments on all the pages (which were disabled anyways); this was causing my email inbox to be inundated with moderate post messages. Anyhow, I had to update all my hacks for the new version. So I think it’s all back up and running.

The upgraded version of the blog software has more features too, which is nice. There’s even a file upload form in the post-writing section (not that anyone but Andrew cares). If anybody sees anything weird on the site, give me a heads up so I can fix it. I’m not sure I caught all the bugs.
