The Origin of the Logo?

Monday, December 26th, 2005

It could be something, it could be nothing, but it doesn’t feel like merely a coincidence. Anyone who knows me knows I’m a fan of the group Genesis, and even if you don’t you might be able to guess by the fact that I’ve included a Genesis song in every dub I’ve directed (Nescaflowné was long enough for me to sneak in two!) Anyway, I was just sitting down to enjoy the new Genesis DVD I got for Christmas when a curious thought entered my skull: what may very well have been the subconscious inspiration for the Studio Sokodei logo.

The cover to the 1982 Genesis concert album Three Sides Live:Every artist is a cannibal. Coincidence?Every poet is a thief.

Surgery and Kong

Saturday, December 17th, 2005

Had my surgery today. They removed a marble sized nodule from my chest. Afterwards I went to go see “King Kong” with Andrew. The anesthesia wore off about 2 hours into the movie, so I spent the last hour in moderate discomfort. After the movie was over (great movie btw) it really hit me and I was in agony most of the way home. I even took one of my pain meds at the theater, but it didn’t really help at all until about 30min after I got home. About now, I’m in mild discomfort. I can’t straighten my back, so my chest is starting to hurt. Hopefully I’ll be good in a few days or so.

FBBB DVD Report 4: The Voyage Home

Monday, December 12th, 2005

Done with “Saturday”. Damn, I’m lazy. But I’m committed to having this thing done by the end of the year. I’ve been averaging one “scene” a day for the last 4 days, and I plan to keep that pace up until I’m through. I’ve finished 10 out of 16. I plan on redoing the Ryo-ohki and Godzilla shots which might slow me down some, but thankfully the second half of FBBB is not as dialogue intensive as the first half which evens things out somewhat.

The DVD will feature a new director’s cut of FBBB. I’ve been making little changes all over the place already, but after much thought I decided to significantly shorten some of the musical scenes. But like the ReDeath DVD, the FBBB disc will also house the original version.

Today was Chris Yang’s birthday. We had dinner at BJ’s microbrewerey to celebrate. I wonder where he is right now…

Like that bumpersticker, right? “Who would Jesus bomb?”

“I think it’s more important to put Christ back into our war planning than into our Christmas cards”
